CO2 Laser Risks and Cost

Posted on 14 October 2007

Is it safe? What are the complications & risks?
All procedures carry risks, though the risks with this laser procedure are very low. Scarring (hypertrophic or keloid), infection, permanent paler skin, temporary darkening of the skin and prolonged redness of the new skin, are the complications and should be discussed with your doctor. There are no known long term side effects such as skin cancer.

Cost?
Fees vary depending on each case. Typically fees range from $500.00 to $3500.00. Discuss the costs of your particular procedure during your initial consultation. Medicare will not cover cosmetic laser work. Some cases of severe scarring may qualify for a Medicare rebate. Private insurance company policies vary, so contact your insurance company after your consultation for that information.
