Erectile Dysfunction Treatment

Posted on 06 September 2007

In the treatment of erectile dysfunction, psychosexual counselling is often useful. Exercises that improve a man’s confidence and hence his erection may be carried out alone or with his partner. However, many men are eager for treatments that are quick - such as penile injection therapy or oral medications. A relatively painless injection into the shaft of the penis with a medicine called Caverject TM results in an erection in about ten minutes. Oral medication - Viagra TM tablets - allow a man to engage in sexual activity within one hour. Each of these treatments has advantages and disadvantages and requires a doctor’s prescription.

Another treatment for erectile dysfunction is a vacuum erection device which is a plastic cylinder that creates a vacuum around the penis resulting in an erection. Penile prosthesis or implant involves an operation that is generally reserved for more difficult cases.
